Liam’s Mitzvah Project
I started playing soccer when I was three years old. At first it was just a fun time, playing with my friends. As I got older it became more than just an enjoyable game. When I step out on the field, I feel determination to be the best that I can be. I learn how to work with others who have different talents and skills in the game so that we can become a cohesive team. When everything comes together, playing soccer not only relieves stress but it makes me feel a sense of accomplishment.
I am focusing my mitzvah project on helping kids who are less fortunate. Kids all over the world can unite through soccer, even if they don’t speak the same language (I know this first hand because when my family traveled to Israel, I played soccer on the beach with kids who only spoke Hebrew/Arabic). Kids that are less fortunate can use soccer as a way to get through hard times and feel good about themselves. After learning more about Charity Ball and watching the video, I realized that these children and I have a similar love for the game of soccer. I believe that every child should have a loving family, a home to live in, food, and clean drinking water. They should also have an actual soccer ball instead of a ball of trash to play with. It isn’t fair that only some kids are privileged enough to have those things. This is why I chose to fundraise for Charity Ball, a 501(c)3 non-profit.
The goal of my mitzvah project is to raise as much money as I can to help kids in disadvantaged situations around the world. By clicking the link above and making a donation, you will be joining me on my journey in completing this mitzvah. The donation options start at $25 because that is how much it costs for a child to receive a soccer ball and aid for clean drinking water. However, ANY amount will be appreciated and support the children!
Todah Rabah,
Liam
